EAST TIMOR - SUMMARY

With the very hectic Thursday with me missing the plane out of the way, I was set and ready to leave Darwin with the other entertainers and crew. I met most of the crew on the Friday morning... they all seemed very friendly and in high spirits... none more friendly than Charles Brewer, our photojournalist for news.com.au... he was very friendly after he got a good look at the junk in my trunk (below)...

We became very close... he was a cool dude... and fun to hang with... Check out his work and up comimng feature on all the entertainers at news.com.au...

We were all primed and ready to go bright and early on the army's hurry up and wait program...

the flight over in the 20 seater plane was way too cool... being able to hang out in the cock-pit was a very rare treat... Thanks...

Once we landed... they shot us...

and then whisked us off to HPOD... which was to be our home for the next 4 days... the rooms were comfortable and cool... not that we spent to much time in them...

the weekend was a blast from start to finish... the hospitality and friendship from the get go, till we were leaving was amazing to say the least... we were made to feel like part of your big family everytime we came into contact with anybody on base.

Camp Phoenix was a nice welcome and we were once again treated with the utmost respect and made to feel like part of the family unit...

CAPT Cameron Jamieson (Cam)... Thank you for showing us around and sharing all your local knowledge with us all... You are a top bloke... I don't care what the other soldiers say about you... you had our back every time... Cheers!

The Jesus trip was a great bonding start to our first day together...

Thanks to all the cool dudes at Camp Chevelle for showing us how the backbone of the army handles it's business... the weapon handling was very cool... I must admit... I did have a little Rambo moment...

Crusing around Dili checking out the culture and history was fun again with Cam and LCPL Barry Simshauser (Shimmy) these dudes and the rest of the crew made the trip very relaxed and entertaining... much needed... to help us forget that we had sweat running down the crack of our ass like Niagra all day... sweet job and driving boys... and girls...
